A single Hotmail account grants you access to so many Microsoft services like Office, OneDrive, Xbox, OneNote & Skype among others. And when you find that it takes time less than what it takes to finish an apple and process is as swift as 1, 2, and 3 then there remains no reason to not have one!
Hotmail has been replaced by Outlook and Live by Microsoft however you can still sign up for "@hotmail.com" suffix holding email account.
A screen like this will appear. Just fill the form step-by-step as shown below.
Provide you first and last name. It will become your account title and email receivers will identify you by this name for all the emails you send.
Now select a username. Choose it wisely - not too long, as shorter email address is easier to remember by people you give your email to.
Since Hotmail is an old service so most username have already been taken by other people so be creative in your selection.
Important part is that you select Hotmail from drop box as shown below, since you want to create a Hotmail account instead of Outlook account.
Now comes the password. Not to mention, choose a strong password containing letters, numbers, and characters. Weak password puts you at risk of brute force password hack. Reenter it again in second box to confirm it.
Select you country of origin.
Now, provide your age. Good part is that unlike Gmail, where there is 13 years minimum age limit to have an account, there is no age limit on having a Hotmail account. So Kids, Rejoice!
Select you gender. Don't want to mention? Just select "Not Specified".
Now select your country code and give phone number. In case of a hacking attempt or if you lose/forget you password, Hotmail will send you code at your phone to recover your account. So it is mandatory.
For same reason as phone number, an alternate email address is required. But if you don't have one yet, just provide one of your trusted friend/family members' email ID.
As a last part, fill the Captcha code. It is to verify that you are a human and not a programmatic robot making fake accounts.
Bottom line is a check box. Now it is at your disposal to check it if you want promotional offers from Microsoft. But recommended is to uncheck it.
At last, hit "Create Account" and you are all done!
As soon you hit "Create Account" button, you are proceeded to this welcome screen. This marks that you have successfully signed up for a new Hotmail account. Click the arrow at right to proceed.
You will be asked to set your language and time zone. Set it accordingly and click the right arrow.
Now you will set a collection of 50 themes you get for free. Themes make account look cool. Without any theme an email account looks boring. Select whatever theme you like - usually dark colors look good.
At the end select a signature style. This signature will automatically be appended at end of every email message you send. If this is your formal account, select "Business", else select others. If you don't want to have any, select "OFF". Hit arrow at right to proceed.
And you are almost there! Greeted by this message, just hit "Let's Go!
Your mail box will load as below.
And you will see this message, read it and press "Got it".
Congratulations! You have completed the sign up and welcome to your new Hotmail account. You may notice at top left "Outlook" is written instead of Hotmail. This is because Outlook is now new Hotmail. It's lightning fast with many specialties that old Hotmail lacked.
Not only email, but this account lets you access other services like:
Skype is software that enables the world's conversations. Millions of individuals and businesses use Skype to make free video and voice one-to-one and group calls, send instant messages and share files with other people on Skype.
